Daniel

Daniel Ruiz
Chino native Daniel Ruiz, 16, died May 23, 2010 after battling leukemia for a decade. A freshman at Chino High School, Daniel was known for his artistic abilities, his love of music and dancing, and his infectious smile. A member of Calvary Chapel Chino Valley, Daniel was active with Teens 4 Christ.

Daniel was first diagnosed with leukemia in 2000 at age 6 and relapsed in 2007 and 2010. His family was part of The Let It Be Foundation, and Daniel was the 2009 honoree of the foundation's Dance of Hope. He was also an honored guest at the Relay for Life in Chino in 2008, and 2004, and he was given a trip to Walt Disney World in Florida by the Make-A-Wish Foundation.

Daniel's life was celebrated at a memorial on May 29, 2010. Daniel is survived by his father, Leonard, and his mother, Ofelia; his stepfather Fred, brother Derek; stepsisters Dominique and Danielle.
